Purposeful word of the year 2022 – Practice what you learn
The new year has arrived and so has the purposeful word of the year 2022 – Practice what you learn. As talked about in my earlier post, you can’t stop learning new things but this year, I will focus more on practising what I am learning. I have realized in time that we forget things or important lessons of life because we don’t practice them often. That’s why we fail to apply those lessons when the situation demands. Hence, I discovered an important word that I am going to follow all this year – Practice.
There are tons of life lessons that I need to practice but it’s high time I should start now.
When you learn, you gain knowledge. But when you practice it daily, it becomes a habit.
Once it becomes your habit then only you will see benefits from that learning. Your personality will change for good and therefore your perspective towards life. Your habits take charge in every circumstance and don’t give you time to think or analyse if you are correct or not.
Similarly, if you make new habits that are good as well, your life is surely going to smoothen from here on. Like, if you want to know what am I going to practice the most this year, it’s to manage my anger so that I look the brighter side of the situation.

Another lesson I want to make a habit of is not to take decisions when I am angry. Just let the time pass and I will be quiet for that time. Believe me, I am aware of the situation and managing it actually helps you. It’s just that I need to make it a habit so that it comes to me naturally and I don’t have to make efforts pretending and waiting for things to get better.
At present, I have to train my subconscious mind really hard to ignore the negative thoughts that try to overpower me. It takes a day or two for me to actually throw away bad thoughts out of my mind so that I clearly see the reason behind someone’s particular behaviour. I repeatedly tell myself that I am not going to let these useless thoughts deviate me from my actual goal. When you clean the clutter out of your mind, it’s out of your sight and you see clearly.
Situations will never stop to test you but your habits will make you pass them all. That’s why it’s important to choose good learning out of the lots that can be a good habit. A habit that will take you ahead in your career, life and relationships.
Remember none of the above three is independent of each other. Every emotion is dependent. If you are happy, you perform better at work and create good relationships. But if you are alone and messed up in life then your career achievements also feel incomplete. When you share your career growth with your partner, it multiplies even more than you expect it. Your partner appreciates and encourages you further.
Hence, it all starts with practising what you learn throughout your life. So, I am going to practise overpowering my anger and see the magic of self-control. Do come back in December 2022 to check my growth and progress.
