Lavaash by Saby – Mehrauli
The journey of exploring cafes around and remembering the old ones is exciting. Completing the second week of this challenge and reviewing 12th cafe, I take you today to Lavaash by Saby in Mehrauli. This discovery is close to the heart of its makers. You will taste pure Armenian food from West Bengal in New Delhi. Till date, they are baking Lavaash at Kashmir in traditional Tonir’s after so many centuries. It is their small effort to tell a story as beautiful and age-old as Armenia. Let’s explore more about it.
The story in their own words
Lavaash by Saby is the fruit of his lost nostalgic past. The initial mood board was made by Chef Megha and him, however, it would have been impossible without the great artistic minds and effort of two young designers. 100% credit should be given to Viplov Singh and Svabhu Kohli for making his dream into a reality. Due credit should go to Chef Megha for her deep research in this subject and putting the recipes together, and my sister Sarbani for her continuous support and for the deft Bengali touches in the kitchen wherever desired.
How to reach there
The food
It has an interesting food menu where every dish has a story behind its name. Lavaash, the bread, is served in different yet innovative styles. They serve 44 dishes out of which 30 are vegetarian. Its beverages have a wide variety too. The southern estate, medium dark roast, premium coffee is their chosen house blend.
The price you pay
The price would be approximately Rs 1000-Rs 1500 for two persons where you order good food with your choice of beverages.
