6 inexpensive life lessons from Call Me Bae
Call Me Bae is a web series on Amazon Prime with some serious life lessons to consider and apply to your personality because they are inexpensive. Today, OTT delivers content pieces one after another quickly; you just need to pick your favourite. Ananya Panday has not been on my watchlist because of her chosen projects. This particular series also started as a tea break series when it popped as the latest release on Prime.
At one time, I had subscriptions to almost every channel but if you have access, you watch them all and finally waste tons of hours. That was self-realisation as a blogger and I unsubscribed from all of them at once. Now, I am working on my consistency and willpower to ignore when others indulge in watching.
Call Me Bae gives you 6 life lessons
The story is about Ananya and her baes that she discovers during different episodes. It starts with a good recap of influential Delhi families with their typical desires of connecting with the same fraternity only. The story takes a good turn when Ananya is thrown out of her in-laws’ house and how she manages life thereafter to flaunt her personality with style and confidence.
Children crave parent’s attention
To seek their parents’ attention, children often do the wrong things. Children feel that even if they are scolded, their parents will talk to them and show some concern. Gradually these practices become habits and finally addiction.
In Call Me Bae, Ananya and her friend Saira, both had addictions to shoplifting and gambling respectively for the same reason. Their busy parents seldom had time to listen to their children’s interests.

Siblings are the first friends
Sibling support is important in the growing years. Parents should take care of not constantly supporting any one of the siblings. This adversely affects the mental health of the ignored child.
In the show, Ananya felt her parents always favoured her brother who would take their legacy ahead according to them. She also looked up to her brother who would take her out of any problem in the world. Sadly, the reality is different.
The world is different for everybody
Instead of pursuing the usual popular courses, you can attend short courses that interest you. You will still be called ‘wow’. The trick is to do them smartly instead of taking bulk courses.
Here, Ananya did many short courses which others wouldn’t have heard of but they made her happy so she did. In many situations, her little courses earned her fame and the tag of being intelligent. They resolved many of her problems too.
Beauty with brains is not a myth
Beautiful faces can be intelligent too. They are smart enough to showcase their talent only when necessary. Gone are the days when only nerdy-looking people were intelligent. Today, even the most brilliant wants to look good and stylish.
In the series, Ananya and her celebrity gym trainer Prince show us different shades of intelligence while collecting facts for a particular new story. Ananya is smart when she talks to the economists and woo them with her facts and figures. Later, she reveals the truth to her bae about how she picked up information from the relevant book blurbs.

Give time to your relationships
Often unfulfilled relationships force you towards choosing another set of wrong relationships. The confusion messes up until you find the right connections. It’s important to breathe with the people you love. When tiredness comes in between and you are at a loss for words, it’s time to speak your mind.
Ananya was unhappy at her home and in her marriage. That’s when she searched for love outside and messed up with the first guy she met.
You can Call Me Bae
Loyal friends do exist for real. They help you reach your full potential because they don’t judge you and let you experiment with your skill sets. They allow you to be wrong and still be ok.
Call Me Bae is an interesting story. A light-hearted web series that relates to you. I give full credit to the writer, director and of course, Karan Johar who knows how to sell that’s entertainment to the audience.

Sometimes we get life lessons from places we least expect to get from especially the people who consume old or new content on a daily basis 😄
I agree. Thanks, Sukaina.
Trust you to find life lessons in the most unexpected things that we would probably miss. I have read mixed reviews of Call Me Bae. Some are calling it the Indian Legally Blonde. I wasn’t keen on catching it but after reading your post, I will probably give it a shot.
Thanks, Ritu. Yes, you should give it a try.
I loved how you ended with the reminder that loyal friends do exist. It’s easy to become cynical in today’s world, but Call Me Bae shows us that true friends will stand by us, allowing us to grow and make mistakes without judgment. That’s a beautiful message, and it’s one that’s so important to remember as we navigate our own relationships.
I’m inspired not only to check out Call Me Bae but also to reflect on the small but significant lessons in my own life.
Thank you.
I am not a screen fan, but don’t know why this series kept calling me and I ended up watching it. I enjoyed watching this and reading your blog made me recall every moment where things happen and how they could teach us so many things
Wow, that’s so cool. Thanks Tanvi.
I have only heard good things about this series. Reading your piece has given an additional push to watch it. I am going to watch it soon.
Kudos to your keen observation, because most of the times, the visuals deceive the life lessons underneath. But have summed it up do nicely.
Thanks Nilshree, so nice of you to say so.
I loved your insights, so true to life. I have put the series on my watch list.
Great Marietta. Thanks.
I seldom watch channels… Lack of time, primarily. This one seems interesting, no doubt. The life lessons you’ve extracted are important, for certain.
Thank you.
