I don’t worry anymore when sending my child back to school. Here’s why

It is that time of the year again; when summer vacations are over and kids are excited to go to school and share their stories with their friends!. Aishwari was so excited to meet her old friends. She had started thinking about lunch options for me because she knows that I am hygiene conscious. I always try to give her food that can be easily carried and doesn’t spill here and there. As she is a basketball player at school, she doesn’t want to lose her time in eating instead of playing. Though I have instilled enough hygiene habits in her since she has started going to school but I need to recheck.

That day at school

The air smelt fresh like dew. Every face looked smiling and energetic. Aishwari was called at the basketball court for practice. She takes 2 sets of clothes one for practice and the other she uses during the day. I am very particular of the washrooms and always tell her to see around if sanitation is good.

But she came back home disappointed. She told me that the washrooms near the classrooms were not all hygienic. There was no cleanliness there. I had given her the paper soap but she was uncomfortable to use the dirty tap.

Meeting with the coordinator

This was disheartening for both of us. All the excitement vanished and now it was the only regret. I immediately called the coordinator to speak to the school authorities for cleaning and maintaining the washrooms. Health and hygiene go hand in hand, I can’t risk my daughter catching germs because of ignorance towards hygiene essentials.

We talked about this in the chat group as well and slowly every mother was concern about the same. While we all had been ensuring different forms of health hygiene for our kids, the school needs to take the first step.

Looking for hygienic solutions

Though the coordinator was helpful,  the problem was bigger. It needed plenty of time to take some serious action and start the cleaning process. Till that time I couldn’t have kept Aishwari at home. And it was impossible that she doesn’t use the washroom at all. Even before having lunch she needs to wash her hands to ensure skin protection against germs.

At last, I had to come up with a quick solution to keep hygiene in check. I turned to the internet for solutions and while browsing, I saw this cute song from Dettol.

I had found the solution I needed. We have been using Dettol at our home since ages. And it is as strong in fighting germs as mother’s love is for her child.
