5 Creative things I do only on retreats
Peace of mind can be achieved anywhere but your surroundings do matter. That’s why retreats are the best time to do creative things that home doesn’t let you do. When you are away from home, a few of your responsibilities are cut down and there’s excitement to carry out those activities which secretly make you happy.
Every year, I look forward to the Blogchatter retreat because it becomes the sole reason to travel alone and enjoy doing silly things that feed my soul. So, let me tell you the creative things I did only because I was on a retreat.
Star gazing
It has been years since I looked up at the sky and counted stars. Nights at home mean winding up after dinner, arranging clothes for the next day and picking up a book for 15 minutes before I sleep.

Here, at the retreat, it’s just having dinner which I don’t have to manage and quietly sitting under the open sky. It is only this time when even black looks colourful and gives you that perfect reason to leave behind duties and live in the moment.
Painting is one of the best creative things
That is not all. I get a chance to fulfil my childhood hobbies too and one of them is painting. How often do you paint at home? I never do because, for hobbies, you need to declutter your mind which is difficult to achieve between different tasks.

Here, I followed Leha’s instructions and painted of my own free will. I felt so happy and liberated. While sharing the story behind with everyone, I found a new way to sort my thoughts and chase my dreams. The atmosphere was calm and the background music put on by Leha was soothing to the mind and soul. I was transported to an unknown world for some time, where my only task was to paint.
Adventure ride
The next day, I explored the city a little bit and all thanks to Sona, we got a chance to ride a bike. I was in the back seat and took full advantage of the cool breeze and open fields all around.
The journey is often more memorable than the destination, and here, when we reached our destination, it was almost time to close. However, as you know, we take the fun out of everything, so here’s a glimpse of all of it.

Impromptu Kurkure and Coke party
Our scooter was not trustworthy but somehow we managed. So, we were back on time and explored the local markets. We had some time for dinner and as a local, I bought some Kurkure packets with Coke bottles.
In the hotel room, we enjoyed eating Kurkure and Coke, making our gossip even spicier.
Gossip until the wee hours of the day
We all work remotely so retreats are like an annual meeting for us. We meet, work and have fun in these 2-3 days. In one of our retreats, we even gossiped until 4 AM! Time flies away but our meetings can never run out of topic.

Plenty of memories are saved through these retreats and I always look forward to them every year. What’s your last travel memory?
This post is a part of Blogchatter Half Marathon 2025

I totally get the joy of gossiping till 4 AM on retreats. Those late-night chats always hit different.
So true. Thanks, Felicia.
gEETHICA, it was so nice to read your post and see all the lovely pictures.
Thanks, Aishwariya.
This was such a fun read, Geethica! Holidays and retreats do give a chance to clear our minds!
I know, Harshita. It’s like reviving good times and looking forward to the future. Thanks.
