What do you see when you look in the mirror? by Nikita Singh
Every human has different personality shades within that keep on changing with situations. Some people are aware of their own behaviours whereas a few of them realize at the spur of a moment. A time in life when everything comes to stand still, and you feel the change in you. Many such circumstances and more are talked about in the latest book ‘What do you see when you look in the mirror?’ by Nikita Singh.
Relationships are beautifully expressed in all the short stories collected by the author in this book. Even love has grey shades that don’t harm loved ones but make you guilty of your own. But time and people heal you in no time and once again you start living your life in a way that makes you happy.
The story
The story keeps you interested as it moves ahead. The narration is simple and easy to understand. The chapters are written with clear definitions of the characters, and I like the pause on the pages that separate different scenes of the story. There’s even a blank page within a story to draw your attention towards the climax. Just when you feel that story has ended with open suggestions, you flip the page to read further developments.
As you immerse in reading, you start relating to the characters. You pause for a while and ask yourself the same questions as the story moulds.
Indian characters and living style connect well and you are glued to read all of them one after another. Each story has a mixture of emotions that you as a human often go through but seldom give them a second thought.
The conscious
The author shakes your conscious and you put yourself into the character. You live in the story and try to anticipate the end. You are convinced with some stories while you learn a different scenario for others. There’s something for everyone provided you have a sense of responsibility for relationships and the people of your life.
