How do I ensure my son stays fit and active during monsoons
“Have you finished all your schoolwork?” “Mom, you never made me do.” “Huh, I never called you or you didn’t want to do?” “Whatever…” This is the scene at my home every year. The school is going to open after summer vacations. And I have to make them finish their school work and do a refresher course on hygiene for them. After all, it’s important to make them fit and strong during monsoons.
Monsoons start and infections come along
Hygiene is the most important during monsoons. We can definitely fight the germs if we take all the necessary precautions. Aadidev is in his 6th year and already a cricket champion at school. His coach wants him to practice after school in the evenings. Though his coach takes care of his game, I take care of his health as a player is able to perform only when he is healthy and sound.

Some precautions I follow that have always helped me:
- Always keep a sanitiser handy whenever they are out.
- Give juices and water to quench their thirst in between the game.
- Avoid giving them finger foods because they will never remember to clean their hands before eating.
- During monsoons, they come back home all soaked in rain. At that time, my first step is to give them a bath with a few drops of liquid antiseptic to disinfect them.
- Wash their wet clothes in this liquid antiseptic and dry under the sun
- After every meal, remind them to wash their hands
- Keep liquid hand wash in every washing area like the kitchen and every bathroom.
The habit of good sanitation has come to me from my parents and we trust Dettol and we have been using it in our family for generations.
Any kind of sport is important for fitness which is enjoyable and not a burden. I only trust in the best for my child’s hygiene and safety, what about you?

Great tips. Avoiding finger foods is the timely one. Loved the way you encourage your sporty son.
Parents and kids prefer finger food as it is quick to finish but I agree with your logic behind not giving them finger food.
