# Tips to achieve relationship goals by Tina Basu

Welcome back friends, today the guest on my blog is a very dear friend Tina Basu. I haven't met her yet. But I know that she is a bindaas kind of girl. She has the ability of being totally professional yet friendly wherever needed. This mixture of attitude makes her stand out in the crowd and gives her the strength to make her own place. Let's chat and learn relationship goals by Tina Basu

### Introduce yourself in a few lines. What is your relationship status?

I am a
lifestyle and food blogger from Bangalore who dabbles with developing content,
design and branding. An ex-corporate girl, an art lover, and a foodie at heart.

Relationship
status – Married for almost 8 years!!!

### Do you have kids?

Mom to a 3-year old marshmallow monkey

### There’s always a change in the definition of love at every stage of life. What change did you feel after your kid/kids was/were born?

When
the baby was born he became like the only man of my life, the rest of the world
stopped existing for me. That was for two days to be precise!

I
always hoped I’ll have a baby who will be my world – it somehow is now. You get
into that mom mode ever since you get to know you have a life inside you. I
still am in that mode – I think about him, his wellbeing before anything else.
And now I understand what my mom meant whenever she said –“you’ll understand
when you become a mom”!

### Do you live in a joint family? If yes, do they help in building a strong relationship between the two of you? If no, do you miss their presence?

No, I don’t stay in a joint family – I stay in a different city than my family. Currently, it's me, my man and my sweet pea.

### Kids make their parent’s bond stronger. But at times, parents argue because of them only because their teachings differ. What is your safe mantra in such a situation? Explain with an example if possible.

I get
to look after him and discipline him more because I am practically the one he
sees all the time (and bored too!) We practice positive parenting in the house
– no abuse, no hitting, no screaming. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t need
disciplining. I get to do that more than the dad, because he’s mostly at work.
So when the dad sees me disciplining him, ‘he says its okay leave it.’

My
trick at the time is to leave the kid with the dad and vanish! It works
seriously.

Like
for example, some mornings my son doesn’t want to wake up for school in spite of
me calling him for 15 minutes. The dad says “leave it, his rest day today”.
Here I can do two things – argue with the husband in his ways of pampering or
giving in to the tantrum or make the dad realise exactly what will happen if
he’s not going to school. So I tell him, I am going out, take leave and baby
sit!

The
next minute the husband joins in to wake him up too!

### Respect for your partner is the most important aspect of a successful relationship. Still, at some point in an argument, your ego comes in between and things become worse. How do you tackle such a situation and make your life peaceful once again?

Respect is an integral part of any relationship. Ego can ruin a lot of relationships. Frankly, I am no relationship guru but I have learnt one thing – I have to be in peace with myself and my mind first. Instead of elaborate arguments, I try to sit down and think about where the fault lies and try to fix that.

### Everyone loves surprises. There’s always an excitement involved. But when you are together for over a decade, you know him/her inside out. How do you still manage to surprise your partner?

There’s no age limit or time limit for surprises. Everyone likes surprises, sometimes you can even anticipate surprises. Over a time, surprise gifts can change into surprise time spent together, or a good dessert that you have made.

### From your experience of married life with kids, please share some motivating tips to make your relationship successful?  What is your ultimate goal in a relationship?

The Ultimate goal in a relationship for anyone is to stick together and build a good family, share good values with your partner, make good memories that you can look back to when you are old. There are always ups and downs – but in the long run, you should collect more ups and more smiles to remember.
