How does the year 2023 reflect on my life?
One of the favourite activities of content creators is to talk about the year gone by. One element that I add to it is to check how much I have followed the Word of the Year. For some years, I enjoy picking a unique word or phrase as word of the year and see if I stick to it throughout the year. Before I talk more about this, let me share a title I can reward for the year 2023 and it’s Mixed fruit juice.
I can’t box it into a bad or good year. Sometimes, it felt like the time was flashing in a few moments and I had already crossed half of it. But the other times, the year felt dragging like a snail. I would recall a moment and will be surprised to realize that it happened early this year. While the last quarter of the year felt like are we still living in 2023?
Weird na?
Well, as I always believe in scrapping the positive from everything, here also I am going to highlight my happiness from all the odds.
The year 2023 cast me as a miracle baby
The biggest achievement of the year was that my eyesight got better. My power decreased and this is the miracle of the millennium for me. I have heard stories about eyesight getting better if you follow a set of rules but I did nothing specific. It just happened. Of course, I would love to see the world without any eye power but at the moment this is magic and I am enjoying being a miracle baby.
This change may or may not be for long but it is the best moment of my life until now. I was the happiest to know it and in months, I haven’t felt so good and happy inside. It was a way of God to show me that miracles do happen, you just need to believe in them.
We had debates at home that eyesight never gets better but here I had set an example for all. It’s as simple as a rule that where science fails to reason, the universe takes over.
The art that inspires me
I had been juggling between different timings of my dance class and trying to set the schedule. While I was doing online classes, I was feeling missed and my guru kept pushing me to come to physical classes but my work schedule was not permitting. She was right in saying that my progress is slowing down. Although, I learned 3 items during my online classes but yes, there’s no match to learning dance physically.
Finally, I have joined evening classes at Triveni and I couldn’t be happier than this. It is a revision of my old items and it gives me a chance to practise and better my craft.
As I rejoined the class, I was so ecstatic I just wanted to pause the world, sink in the achievement and get back to reality.
When someone reminds you of your talent
Sometimes, you need another person to remind you of your talent and how important is it to keep practising your qualities. Once someone told me that whenever life looks challenging, shift your focus towards your qualities. I was reminded of my writing, cooking and dance. I realised, yes, I am good at all three of them. It’s my responsibility to better my craft.
This year, I wrote less number of blog posts but the ones I wrote reflected the true me. Amid daily chores, I was losing the charm of cooking. It was becoming a burden and I asked myself why do I need to cook? Then suddenly, one day, I realised that serving food gives me pleasure. It is the best way I can show that I care. If your body gets food, you feel good and your focus increases in everything you do. And I felt proud of myself that I am good at cooking along with being a working professional.
Making solo travel plans
This year, the Blogchatter team launched Happinetz and while I was in the core decision-making, travelling to Pune for the launch was impromptu. Just 2-3 weeks before the launch, I felt I should attend it physically and I went to Pune, met the team and enjoyed the trip a lot.
Then the retreat happened. Banaras is close to my heart. I have travelled there with family too but this time it was different. It was one of the finest memories of 2023. I enjoyed every bit of the trip from being solo to watching Ganga Aarti to eating ice cream alone and waiting for my flight.
The year 2023
Life is challenging and the year 2023 was no less in throwing difficulties and testing patience. But now when I write about the good things that happened in the year, I feel I have conquered it. Though I love my independence I crave human relations. I can’t live alone and like to be cared about. It is not like pampering me with gifts (that I like to buy myself) or making bank balances but a casual walk to the local grocery store also shows that the person cares for you.
Well, the year 2023 is now wrapped and from here I want to take good memories ahead.
What was your best highlight of the year?
This post is part of The Year & You Blog Hop hosted by Swarnali Nath.

Geethica, your journey through 2023 is like sipping on mixed fruit juice – a blend of fast and slow moments. Your improved eyesight is a true miracle, Do share any exercise you did for that. It’s awesome to see you back in your dance class, soaking in the joy of rejoining. Hope I would start my Bharatanatyam class someday🤞.

Thanks, Anjali. To be honest, I just believed that my eyesight would be better someday and it’s happening. Wish you all the luck in 2024.
As a myopic person myself, I can vouch that eyesight getting better is indeed a miracle. Congratulations on that, Geethica. Glad to hear that you were able to get back to your passion: dance and pursue it the way you enjoy it. I so resonate with you when you say,”Sometimes, you need another person to remind you of your talent” because in our routines we tend to forget how well we’re doing the tasks we take for granted. Happy to learn that you were able to reinstate your love for cooking.
Wishing you a wonderful 2024!
Thanks, Manali. Wish you a happy and prosperous new year.
Wow that is awesome. I wish my eyesight got better though I’m happy that my power hasn’t increased in the past few year. I would love to live without these glasses that make marks on my nose. Congratulations for your miracle baby label. And all the best to you. May you walk miles with someone who makes you happy!
Thanks Cindy. Yes, those glasses are so irritating on the nose. Happy New Year.
