10 Ways to feel better about the world
After a month into the new year when life becomes much clearer, your resolutions intend to suppress you with expectations. There’s a reality check that in the mess of goals, results and the road to success, you often forget to smile and be happy. In today’s world, where headlines often resemble the plot of a dystopian novel, keeping your spirits up can feel like an impossible task. But if you are reading my blog post then you will surely get ways to feel better about the world.
Your belief in staying happy
Life is full of challenges and it’s your choice to be happy and sail through them. There are many ways to keep you focused and meditation is one of them. You may not be a priest or a perfect chanter of mantras but a simple exercise of closing your eyes and concentrating on your breathing helps.
Your concentration may be just for a fraction of a second initially but the effect will be long on your soul. Whether you’re reciting powerful prayers for protection, chanting kindness mantras for the world or simply saying “be positive” in your head, there’s a positive effect on your mind and soul. Try it!
Plants bring you closer to nature
Get your hands dirty and plant something. Gardening isn’t just therapeutic; it’s a small way to contribute to the planet. Every new plant is like a tiny high-five to Mother Nature. The green colour of plants has healing power. If you just observe a plant quietly for a while, it calms your senses. You can focus better and get answers to your queries.
Kindness comes back to you
Have you ever played a treasure hunt? If it reminded you of your childhood then let’s try it. Paint some rocks with cheerful messages or cute images and leave them for others to find. It’s a small gesture that can brighten someone’s day – think of it as a guerrilla mission for happiness.
Who knows you may also get sweet messages in return that will make your day.
Digital Detox: The requirement of the present times
Take a break from the news and social media. Call it a digital detox. It’s like a spa day for your brain, giving you a break from the constant bombardment of information because sometimes ignorance is bliss.
Volunteer and be the sunshine for someone
Volunteering can massively boost your mood. Whether it’s at an animal shelter, a food bank, or for a community clean-up, helping others gives you a sense of purpose and connection. It’s like being a real-life superhero without the limelight.
Every small step counts. Donating your unused clothes, toys, utensils etc. can be a boon to someone else.
Choose good over bad
Actively seek out good news. There are websites and newsletters dedicated to positive news stories – a welcome change from the usual gloom. It’s like finding a needle of joy in the haystack of despair. That’s how I like to shape my blog where I express the good experiences leaving behind the less talked about hindrances.
Learning something new makes you feel better
As you pick up a hobby, your focus is shifted to all the good things about it. A new skill set brings joy and excitement along with it so why not just start?
It could be anything from astronomy to Zumba. Keeping your brain engaged and curious can help keep the blues at bay. It’s like giving your mind a shiny new toy to play with.
Surprise people around you
Unexpected gifts bring a smile to your face, isn’t it? Let’s try this karma circle involving others. Buy small gifts for your loved ones without any occasion and ask them to send their first reaction to you. I bet you will automatically feel in the seventh heaven.
Learn to distance yourself from toxic people
You can sense the attitude of people in a couple of meetings with them. Choose to be brave and come out of that toxic circle. Those kinds of gossipers can give you fun for a short while but will leave scars on your thought process for life long.
Closer to family, if toxic people exist in your family where it is difficult to avoid them, just stop reacting and learn to be just a listener. Gradually, they’ll stop affecting you.
Music and Dance have the ultimate healing power
I can vouch for both of these talents. Music has always lowered my stress levels and practising Bharatanatyam has calmed down my anger. Once your mood lightens, you can see the good prevailing in this world.
Music and dance are surely the most powerful mood boosters. It’s like having a party where the only guest is happiness.
While the world can sometimes seem like a bit of a hot mess, you can feel more positive about it all! Let me know which hacks do you regularly practice to feel better about this world.
What a nice list! some of your words resonated deeply; News headlines indeed sound like dystopian novel plots! I couldn’t have said it better. And my favorite, “Every plant is like a hi-five to Mother Nature” 🥰 A nice list to keep handy in these uncertain times~
