6 Interesting things and people energise me on a tiresome day
What does your usual day look like? Fulfilling, incomplete, tiresome, supercharged or a mix of everything. There are so many emotions to describe your day. Whether you are a homemaker or a working professional, your daily activities may leave you tiresome. The same happens to me too. In fact, when the body is tired, you take some rest and get back. But when you are mentally exhausted, you need a different therapy. Let me tell you which interesting things and people energise me on a tiresome day.
Music takes me to another level
Just close your eyes, dim the lights and listen to your favourite music. Isn’t it magical to your senses? Music has the power to take you to another level where you forget your worries and quietly listen to the singer’s voice. By the time you come back, you are feeling much better and stronger.
Practising Bharatanatyam connects me to my soul
Bharatanatyam requires me physically, mentally and mindfully to be in one place. This pulls me out from the most stressful times where I just strike my legs to the taalam, coordinate my hands and my eyes follow the gestures. Earlier I thought that practising required an ample amount of energy and after a tiresome day, I wouldn’t have it to dance.
But I proved myself wrong. When I started practising after my working hours, I sensed a different me. At that time, I forget everything else but the rhythm and steps that connect me to my inner self. Every item is an ode to God and while the song searches Him, my heart says you are within me.
Video calling my dance partner adds hours to my day
I found Uma at Triveni Kala Sangam when I started my dance classes but for around 4 months we didn’t interact. In fact, we weren’t even aware that we were in the same class. Then during lockdown, our classes shifted to online where we noticed each other and now our friendship has a level where we discuss every dance class gossip else we can’t sleep peacefully.
I always believe that people find you in different situations and become friends for life. It’s God’s way of being around you to lighten your mood and energise you on a tiresome day. Uma and I video call each other, learn new steps, clarify doubts and gossip a lot more.
For a couple of months, we have been taking classes at different times but you bet it has affected our gossiping in any way! She is a beautiful artist and her friendship is even more descriptive.
Adding items to the cart is the best mind game
Shopping is always stress-relieving but you know that I am not a regular shopaholic. I shop only once like a queen. So how does it help me de-stress? Browsing the eCommerce site and adding items to the cart is the best alternative to shopping and feeling good.
Many times, I shortlist necessary items and add them to my wishlist or the cart so that when I actually buy, it saves a lot of time and there are great deals too.
Laughing away blues with my children ends a tiresome day
Kids are blessings of God and I feel so content to see them grow in front of me. Today, my daughter is 15 years old and my son is 10 years old. I have different bonds with each of them. My teenage daughter is a friend to me now. We discuss and laugh away so many blues together whether it’s of her school drama or my expectations of her being a nice elder sister.
There are so many anecdotes that make me laugh in private too and lighten the rest of my day. Whereas, my son is a pyaru of a different level. He is a gadget maniac currently and always gets my scolding but I still melt when he comes to me asking, “Baat nahi kar rahi kya”
Both of them don’t know how they are silently energising me when I am truly challenged by life situations but I realise it every moment of my life and I am thankful for them.
Reading fiction gives me entry into their fantasy world
Reading fiction is the easiest way to enter someone else’s life without disturbing them. Their life also has conflicts but you still enjoy them for the simple reason that they are not yours. You can easily come out of their problems if you close the book. Can real life be so easy that we close a hard chapter just by flipping the pages?
Life is interesting and the incidents make us stronger. Each day is a battlefield and you are a survivor. We all have blessings in life to fight the odd ones out.
What are your strengths that help you energise on a tiresome day?
