6 SEO tips to keep your blog active without actually blogging
When you continuously work for years at the same place, you tend to feel a little distracted and want to pause for a while. This doesn’t mean that you don’t love your work anymore. The same happens with blogs too. I have been blogging for more than 6 years now and at times I feel like to just stop and enjoy the moment. I have ideas but I don’t want to write. So how do I still keep my blog active? Today, I am sharing the SEO tips I am following for some time that keep my blog active even when I am not publishing regularly.
Yoast free plugin is cool
If you don’t want to invest in Yoast Premium, the features in the free tool are helpful too. Like when you read your dashboard, it shows how many blog posts out of the total have good SEO scores, how many are ok and how many need improvement.
Improve one post at a time
Don’t overwhelm by the numbers. You can click on any of the categories and start by adding a keyword to the blog post by inserting it in the right places. If you are new to SEO then Yoast also provides many tutorial posts. They are simple to read and apply. The secret is to set the right intent and learn intelligently what you observe.
SEO tips work in the long run
Never expect immediate positive results. Remember that these hacks help search engines crawl your blog posts and with continuous efforts, they may appear on the first page too. If editing one post at a time bores you then you can also wait to publish a new blog post and interlink your posts after editing them.

Interlinking is an art
You may not remember the relevant topics you have written on your blog in the past. The best way is to open your blog on another window and type the keywords in the search bar. The results often surprise you when you realize you have written such masterpieces in the past.
Use Images smartly
Images play an important role in driving traffic to your blog. Adding alternative text to your images or simply writing your post title helps search engines to crawl your blog post. The post title contains the SEO keyword hence when readers search for a particular word through images, the image with relevant keywords from your blog appears in the result.
When you save an image, put the same post title so that it saves with the same keywords. My Google Search Console analysis shows the number of times the audience visited my blog through images.
Take care of Slug
This is basically for search engines to crawl your blog when your URL matches a certain combination of keywords typed in the search bar. So you may keep a catchy post title with the help of Headline Coscheduler but for the slug, remove all articles like the, a, an etc. and put only the keywords.
Don’t think that editing an old post is a waste of time and instead, you can write a new blog post. Polishing your craft in any way is equally important. When I started blogging I was not aware of SEO tips and the benefits from it. Gradually I learnt and now I want to apply them to my blog posts one by one.
It’s essential to maintain that shine on your craft in any of the ways and whenever your creative soul wants to. As you listen to your body, listen to your creative self too. Don’t force yourself to blog just for the sake of publishing and following the content calendar. You can edit some old posts and interlink to freshly written posts.
Do you also feel the same way about your blog?
I realise how much more is there to be learnt about blogging.
That’s so true and the learning process is actually helping in growing our blogs to a better level.
Thanks for commenting.
When I started blogging I wasn’t aware of the SEO game. I don’t use a business package so my blog doesn’t have the Yoast plug-in but I have learned SEO for my job purpose and after that I have started using SEO strategies for my blog posts.. The same tips you have shared here. But currently I am away from SEO and write my heart out.. SEO things feel overwhelming at times.
A Yoast plugin is a free tool you can download on your WordPress blog. It is always better to write your heart out first and be satisfied with it first. Then search for a phrase that can turn into a keyword and be used at different places in your blog post. This way your story remains your personal and SEO does the job of attracting like-minded users. Thanks Swarnali.
