Koi Mil Gaya – The charm of watching movies with friends alone
Apart from eating out and roaming around, watching movies with friends was another interesting thing to do in college. South Campus, Delhi University has good hangout areas nearby. PVR Priya was the closest if you wanted to get the charm of college life. We used to be there every other day especially when we wanted to spend a little over the budget. The first-day first show became true for me at this time, never before or after my college life. Koi Mil Gaya was one such movie for me.
Reena – my travel buddy for all 3 years in college
In the memory drive, I have reached the first year of my college. There’s a girl in my class today. She is shorter than me with dusky skin, a chubby face with a cute inviting smile. She says hi to me and from here we just smile at each other starting our mischievous journey together. Her home is midway from my route so she boards the same bus in which I am travelling. These days I am practising driving so I drive to college and pick her up on the way.
I have to first drop my father at the shop and then drive to college. This is the reason we reach in the mid of the second period that’s usually Economics. Although, I tell Reena every time that she can take the bus and reach on time to which she replies, what will I do by reaching early without you?
And after a week of entering the Economics class 15 mins late, today as we ask the permission to enter the class, he replies NO! Now we are more confused about where to hang out as our list is so big and today we have plenty of time to enjoy.
Watching Koi Mil Gaya with Reena in 2003
Watching movies is the favourite activity we are enjoying these days. Surprisingly, Reena’s father gets free movie tickets for new releases with food included in PVR Priya. So today, instead of Economics class, we are watching Koi Mil Gaya together enjoying McDonald’s burger with Coke. Surely we are watching the movie at this time but weaving stories of our own to remember in future.
I like Reena for her selfless heart and kindness. She’s never jealous of anything and keeps smiling even when friends make fun of her.
Coming back in time, whenever I watch Koi Mil Gaya on TV today, I remember the young Geethica enjoying her little freedom to watch movies in theatres with her friends and tasting new food every day.
Do you remember any movie that flashes your own story in front of you even today?
I am taking my blog to the next level with Blogchatter’s My Friend Alexa.
OMG! you speak my heart. I rewatch some movies and recall how different I was when I watched the same movie the first time.
That calls for a small victory. Our writings brought us closer to each other. Thanks, Manali.
All your posts in the series have made me so nostalgic, Geethica. PVR was our favorite haunt. Followed by a treat at Nirula’s.
Thanks for sharing.
Lovely memories. Who doesn’t want to watch movies with friends. I still remember how much I enjoyed watching SRK movies with my girl gang in college.
Seriously. Thanks, Abha.
Lovely memories! I have gone for movies with friends and sometimes just girls. I’m not one who loves going to the movies so very rarely gone with just one person.
Hahaha, that’s true. Company matters when you are watching a movie in a theatre. Thanks.
This post reminds of movies I watched it with friends. Such a nostalgic post. We just don’t forget bond we shared at different stages.
Seriousely. Thanks, Paresh.

I remember the first movie I ever watched alone in a theatre. Tum Bin – when I was in class 12.
