How can simple habits at home keep you away from depression?
Once in a lifetime pandemic has changed the definition of depression in humans. The new lifestyle adaptations have given us a lot of reasons to be confused with our own emotions. The things that used to keep us happy have also failed this time. So what simple habits can we learn at home that can keep us away from depression?
Ever thought home can also be a cause for depression?
Home is always sweet with loving people around and beautiful surroundings. But only when you come back home tired from work or stenchful outings. We love to relax at home and make it cosy as per our preferences. But when the pandemic forces us to get locked up at home for a limitless time, we feel trapped. The same set of people don’t ease us anymore. In fact, each one of us develops a weird behaviour that’s not easy to deal with.
Which simple habits can help deal with the situation?
First of all, accept that staying at home is for our own good. Now it is the need to find pleasure in little things. I feel better even if I go out once in 4 days to buy groceries or kitchen requirements. The feel of lonely roads gives life to my otherwise boring emotions.
Why do we have a monkey mind?
In every state of mind, the man wants something else. This want never dies and we are always jumping from one conclusion to other. The ones who live alone have also faced depression as much as the person living in family.
I have never lived alone and always listened to my peers and friends about the perks of living independently. But this pandemic has shown marks of depression in even those people.
Tips to heal depression at home
Depression comes in a form unknown to you. You may not realize that you are depressed but the boredom from all life activities denote the same. But there are simple habits that help us to be calm and happy.
- Buying something online for yourself or someone close. Shopping does create some excitement in a dull life. But frankly speaking, I am bored of shopping now. There are a few things saved in my cart but I stop to think about their necessity in my life. Pleasure is replaced with necessity now.
- Search your favourite hobby and practice it daily. Tasks without any deadline keep you interested and you enjoy doing them. I wonder if I wouldn’t have been writing and dancing then where my life would have been?
- Shift your focus to something different and add it to your schedule. As for me, I am bored of cooking, watching web series, shopping, eating and sleeping. But every new day, you can’t discover a new hobby so I switch between reading, writing and dancing.

Nobody knows the future
This pandemic has created stress on our subconscious mind to an unknown level. We are so locked with the same pattern of living that doing our personal favourites also come up as a duty sometimes. But we can’t give up!
It’s best to leave things on time. When you can’t control, it’s best to shift your focus to things you can control.
Make beautiful memories with people you love and laugh away the stressful times together. The family only teaches us to accept the different behaviours of humans and the world.
