How can you assure a green future for the next generation?
In the previous post, we discussed a few steps that help preserve the greenery in our surroundings. As we know, the environment is a vast topic and can’t be compiled in a single post. So here, I am taking the topic ahead with discussing how can we assure a green future for the next generation?
As a parent, we try to follow what we preach. Many times, our children come to us asking why are you doing a particular thing when it’s wrong? The simple example is skipping a traffic signal. Then gradually, we become conscious and try following what good things we teach them.
Green future is possible even with small initiatives
Conserving our nature and keeping our surroundings clean help us give a sustainable future to the next generation. Have you introduced the term sustainability to your children yet? Well, if not then let’s do it today. It is never too late for anything good to start.
What is sustainability?
In simple words, meeting our daily needs in a way that we don’t deplete natural resources for the future generation is sustainability. Like using solar energy for electricity and water solutions because the sun will never diminish and will always shine.
Some of the examples can be:
- Decompose: Collecting dried leaves and dead plants into a cockpit in the ground and covering it for some time. With moisture and natural climatic conditions, this combination decomposes and forms manure. Hence, more plants can be nourished through this manure and we help in preserving our nature.
- Sustainable fashion: Once we start living with minimum requirements and feel that life is still enjoyable, we will contribute a large part of support to society. The year gone by has taught us exactly this. We realised that we can repeat our clothes or redesign them into another style hence preventing wastage of money and utilising the saved money in helping someone else.
The best example of sustainable products was an amazing diary I got from someone on Instagram. They use the leftover cutouts of clothes from various cloth industries and utilize these pieces in making notebooks.
Everyone has intelligent ideas to promote sustainability. It’s just that we don’t think that we can also contribute sustainability to society.

Great post!Sustainibility and recycling are the buzzword indeed!
Thanks, Daisy.
Geethica, it is so important that we practise sustainability and leave the planet a greener place for our descendants. Thank you for this inspiring post. https://deepties.blogspot.com/
Thank you, Deepti.
Sustainability is the need of the hour. Today, teaching our kids the importance of sustainable living is more relevant than anything else. It’s something new for us too, so parents and children should learn together:)
Yes, learning together is fun and so much useful. Thanks, Aditi.
Sustainability is the need of the hour. I’m a firm believer in reuse-reduce and recycle and keep on telling and teaching my kids about it. I also have a home decompose pit, which my kids happily fill and know its importance too.
Wow, a decompose pit at home is an awesome way to start and practise sustainability. Thank you, Pragun.
