Do you know the benefits of growing a vegetable garden?
I remember being small when I saw small tomato and ladyfinger in our garden. I was surprised to know that we can grow vegetables also in our garden and make food from them. In the present also, mom enjoys growing her own vegetable garden and cook fresh. This intrigued me to find the benefits of growing a vegetable garden at home.
Now it’s not that difficult to grow one at your home. You don’t need land or a big balcony to grow vegetables. Many vegetables can grow in flower pots themselves. You just to need to love them and care for them wholeheartedly while they are growing.
Benefits of vegetable garden
- Vegetables are homegrown so you know they are fresh and healthy to eat. You see them growing like your own child and care for them.
- You know the process to grow so you know their importance and cook only as much as you need. This way you don’t waste vegetables. Your vegetables are free of any chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
- You save time and money to buy from the vegetable seller. The only cost involved is to grow your vegetables and their maintenance.
- Gardening is the best stress reliever. When you spend time with your plants you understand their growth cycle and problems if any. You take care of them and forget your own problems for a while. Many times, you will get solutions to your problems too. You just need to try.
I also want to start a vegetable garden but at present, I don’t get the serious feeling that I can take care of them. So maybe at the right time, I will start my own vegetable garden at home and share pictures with you all.

We used to grow basic vegetables like coriander, chillies, palak etc in our vegetable garden. Maybe you can start with a herb garden first?
Yes, that’s a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion, Harshita.
