Are you taking good care of your Ivy houseplant?
The past year has taught us all to be houseplants. This scenario was introduced by Leha at Team Blogchatter when we all along with our community clicked pictures of houseplants and shared them on social. This was a cool activity as a part of Cause A Chatter. This resonated with our current status of living as houseplants. In fact, nothing has changed even now. We are back to square one today where precautions and preventive care for all is the ultimate mantra to fight back this disease.
What exactly is an Ivy houseplant?
Coming back to our very own houseplants, I requested my gardener to get some easy to maintain houseplants that will accompany me while I write to you. He brought me an Ivy houseplant which was really very beautiful. Although I am not very good at learning their names or for that matter it doesn’t matter to me what’s their name. I am only concerned about their beauty and want a combination of colourful plants in my balcony as well as inside my room.
So while handing over Ivy houseplant to me, he asked “Will you take good care of Ivy houseplant?” I smiled and said, ” Yes of course. I know I have to water them regularly.” He said not daily but once in 3 days. I agreed but in a week, it started drying. He said that under the fan, its leaves are drying faster so let’s take it out in sunlight for a few days.
Taking care of your favourite indoor plant
This incident pushed me to check additional information on the internet about how to take care of Ivy houseplant yourself? This is what all I understood:
- The most important part of indoor ivy plant care is bright light.
- These plants don’t like to be in standing water. So always touch the topsoil, if it’s hard and dry then only water them.
- Your houseplant should have excellent drainage as it will not survive in wet soil.
- Ivy needs fertilizing in all seasons except winters when it is usually dormant.

I don’t have an Ivy in my garden yet, but find it to be so pretty.
I too had to take the help of a gardener when I sacrificed quite a few plants with too much love aka fertilizer. I really like indoor ivy, I think will have to get one too!
Hahaha, same here. Thanks, Harshita.
We have many house plants in Ahmedabad.
So nice. Thank you, Aesha.
