Announcing powerful word of the year 2021 – Learn
As I prepare myself for the new year, many ideas pop up in my mind and the most important is to decide word of the year. I analysed my thoughts for a while to know exactly what I want in the next year? What is that one thing I want to continue and conquer in the the year 2021? And here, I am announcing powerful word of the year 2021 – Learn.
Once I finished my graduation and certificate courses, I realised that I am only at the shore of this vast sea called learning. When you come in contact with the real world, you realize that your learned knowledge is incomplete. There’s so much to learn and apply in order to tackle different situations.
No education course taught me to practice patience and being quiet if not required. Only after I became a parent, my children taught me this art. Like my mom says, education never goes waste. Whatever you learn adds to your knowledge and comes up at the right time.
How am I going to use my powerful word – Learn
There are many ways I am thinking to indulge with learning in the coming year. Though it’s not a new concept I want to bring all my focus to learn different aspects of life and maintain the habit throughout.
I am preparing my To Be Read books list this year to enhance my learning expereince. Though I don’t make a reading list for the year but this time I am trying my bit.
Learn to accept
It is hard to accept people, their habits, situations and most importantly yourself. How may ever I preach but in actual it takes a lot of wisdom and patience. Everyone is born with mixed qualities. That’s why nobody is perfect. We often praise our good qualities and highlight the negative qualities of others. I have also been there done that. Gradually, I realized that this habit will do no good for anybody. The only key to happy living is to accept and only accept as things are. Then probably mend your actions accordingly.
Accepting pandemic and surviving is the biggest example of fighting back odds and coming up with positive energy.
Learn from elders as well as young ones
Elders share their own experiences and lessons to help us. Applying their formulas help me win many circumstances. Likewise, young ones create experiences. Everything is new with them, I understood and added all to my personal experiences.
When I observe my kids, they do things which I read in books now and try to follow. When my daughter was small, I learnt to be patient and smile even when I am angry from inside. I watched how my son is selfless and shares his things without a fuss.
Learn to increase your knowledge not to flaunt
Social media is demotivating at many times. Today, it has become a fashion to learn something new and flaunt it on your social media bio. As much as these platforms help you promote your own work, they are equally misguiding. I am learning to use it wisely and refrain from being carried away.
Learning always adds something to your knowledge knowingly or unknowingly. Just enjoy it.
See the magic
When you learn something new there are many benefits that unfold one by one in front of you. Just feel the magic that how rewarding all this is. Sometimes, magic is created by itself and you don’t even know the real cause. The best way is to just stop questioning and feel the magic
Be positive always
This pandemic we have learnt to be positive and fight back all negativity around. However, my family has been supportive at all times. I am learning to be strong enough to push back anything that’s harmful to my mental health. It is good to keep listening to motivational audiobooks and read books that make you happy.
Believe in your choices
It is important that first, you believe in your choices and then you champion by promoting it on your blog. Often, we start talking about things that everyone is talking or is trending forgetting about what we love and what’s our inner calling.
I promise to believe in my own choices in the coming year and research it well to make it impactful. My audience should be able to relate to my authentic content. What about you?
I so resonate and agree to your point on social media. Most of the times, that bugs you and you start doubting on your own abilities watching so much on it. I think I am going to refrain from doing that this year and use it for my personal happiness and not get bothered by others. And wishing you the best year of your life. Learning certainly never stops.
The learning never stops! Good WOTY. Season’s Greetings and best wishes for 2021.
Thank you, Jyothi. Wish you the same.

Great choice of word, Geethica. May you find many opportunities to learn in 2021.
Thank you, Corinne.
As a former teacher, I was excited to read about your word of the year – learn. You are doing a great job with it so far. We do need to learn for learning’s sake alone, not to impress others with our knowledge.
Thank you Laurie.
