How can you cut your desires and strengthen will power?
In my last post, I talked about the power of our brain and how can we train it to get the desired results. What you think for a long time, happens once in a lifetime. In this section, we will travel from desires to will power. Is there any way that leads to strong will power? How can we cut desires and strengthen will power? There is a thin line between what your heart desires and how your brain reacts to it? Will power is one thing that keeps you away from overindulgence and brings you back on track.
Understanding desires
We are born in a particular family and grow with a set of people who shape our desires and mentality. In short, we all are here for a purpose and our upbringing set a certain standards within which we mark our possibilities. Haven’t you heard our elders tell us that we don’t do that or that is not meant for us. What is this? It is simply carving our possibilities. From here, our desires start taking shape and the conflict between mind and heart reaps. Our heart is super-active and wants everything. A minute before it was on something close and the next minute it jumps off to another shiny thing.
So how do you control your heart? How do you decide what is good for you at that particular moment?
Your will power makes you strong
We all stand on crossroads almost every day on simple things in life. I also juggle daily for all big and small things in life and at the end of the day get confused with what’s the right way to do a particular thing. At times, you have to decide instantly and yes, I do decide. When you listen to your heart in silence, you know what’s correct and where you need to be strong. I know you agree. It is just that we often ignore our inner voice and want to be confused. We only let it wander and things entangle more.
On the days, when nothing seems to work, you need to let go off it. Either the morning will sort it out for you or it is not meant for you. Acceptance is the next best attribute of your personality. Once you are strong on acceptance, your life becomes much more sorted. Try it! I have and I feel peace within.
A strong will power trains your brain effectively
Your brain doesn’t understand your confusion. It only takes commands. If you talk from both sides of a controversy, your brain can’t choose on its own and that’s why you don’t get any successful result. In order to train your brain for a particular task, be clear yourself first. Then keep a strong will power that you don’t shift your focus in between. Once your intentions are clear, then only your brain works in that particular direction and give results.
Never force your brain for a particular thing. Nobody likes pressure and your brain is nobody else but you. Believe in the power of the brain and its working. The brain is always in work mode even when you are sleeping. That’s the reason we are alive. Isn’t it? So use this power effectively and in doing good things around. Start with talking about one good habit you want to possess and gradually you will.
I kept chanting to myself that I am letting go off my ego. And believe me, within 6 months of practicing, I don’t have ego issues anymore. At times, when I fail, I chant again and remind my brain. What are you going to start with?

You know today I am discussing same topic with my brother and telling him that it is very important to have a strong willpower for achieving any goal or even a task. Many times people think that it is an act of prosication but I believe it is more about wanting or not wanting something. If we have a strong willpower to get or achieve something then no obstacles is bigger in that journey. Loved the way you had explained everything.
It is good to hear that you believe the same way. Thanks for commenting.
Agree with what you said. It is important to tell our brain what we want and train it too.
Thanks Parul
Agree with so much in this post. My primary focus area this year is my health. I have started there, and so far it’s been going good.
Thank you Shanaya. It is so important to look after one’s health first in order to be effective everywhere else.
Acceptance is so important.
So true, Damyanti. Thank you.
