The story is set in a small and peaceful hill station of Ramsar. A series of mysterious incidents happen in an otherwise calm and safe town. The police and colonel Acharya are on their toes to solve one case when another happens in between just to mess up the details. As the investigation progresses, the main suspects Naina, Alok and Supriya get fierce in their behaviour and it is difficult to judge who could have master-planned all this? Two of the main characters have a major reveal of their past that makes you calculate the next possible turn. The time speeds away as the ASP has to close both the cases soon but what is expected to lead results in another loose end. But ASP Timothy Thapa’s and Colonel Acharya’s brilliant mind games give a toss to culprit’s moves. And finally, the case is solved leaving everybody in astonishment.
The review
Before You Breathe is a well-narrated murder mystery that keeps you glued till the end. At a point, if you start feeling the flow is repetitive or dragging, immediately an interesting angle is added. The story revolves around a set number of people taking care of not confusing the plot. Each character is designed perfectly according to the situation.

The author has deeply studied the plot and created incidents sticking to the central idea. At no point, you feel taken away from the storyline. In fact, I personally liked the placement of Acknowledgement in the end. By now, you have made a certain image of the author in your mind so reading about her strengthens your views. The author has personally cross-checked her knowledge about forensic and took inspiration from real-life people maintaining their anonymity. She has used good proverbs and metaphors to create the happenings in the story.
