Don’t be shy to eat at home
“Let’s have dinner out today.” She suggested
“Na, let’s eat at home only. We can make something together that’s easy to prepare and delicious to eat”, he proposed.
The scenario at home has changed now. The cooks have exchanged their caps and the dishes have modified. There is more to the home kitchen now. Couples enjoy making food at home and this is the trend that’s going to stay. According to Godrej Food Trends Report 2018, eating at home is the primary choice of many people today and not by force. As the home cooked food is always fresh, healthy, safe and easy to digest. When I talked to my parents about what’s trending these days in the food industry they approved instantly. They said this had to come one day, they knew!
People prefer to eat mindfully. With rushed lifestyles, sometimes we may crave to eat out but mostly it is heavy on the stomach afterwards or causes acidic problems; be it any age. And this is a common situation at my place. The same food when cooked at home is much lighter and tastes almost the same.
Same food at a different ambience
We, the lady of the house, also want to be pampered and eat out occasionally. But that’s only to the extent that you are not the cook today. Somebody else is serving and not you making your own plate. Above all, we all love to have the same food at a different ambience. And as usual, after eating we remark that the price is being charged only for the ambience and the cutlery. Else, we make better at home! I am sure all the ladies would agree with me.
We have grown watching our elders making delicious food at home. By choice, we adopt that habit today and don’t feel shy to eat at home.
The design that attracts
Kitchen design is the best thing to happen. Gone are the days when the kitchen used to be boring in just one colour and stacked with old appliances. Today’s kitchen is no less than a bedroom or any other important corner of the home. The couples take the efforts to design every nook and corner of their kitchen personally. It has become an important part of our lifestyle.
The design of a kitchen tells many things about the owner. The colours depict the nature of the cook and the arrangements of different appliances tell a lot about the way of cooking. Even the choice of gadgets we choose goes a long way in making our cooking simpler and enjoyable. These colours, designs and placement of appliances reveal our personal preferences in life. Personally, I feel to paint the walls of my kitchen in light colours and prefer windows that open to a garden. I like to place my appliances and gadgets far away from each other that makes the place looks bigger. I like to give away all the unused things from the kitchen and make space for air.
How to choose your kitchen gadgets
Today’s cooking has become much easier and healthier because of the gadgets available in the market. But how do you choose what’s best for you?
- Look into your kitchen first. What is the daily routine? What is liked by all and what’s the daily eating pattern?
- If they prefer Indian food then chimney is the first thing that supports your cooking. It will consume all the smoke created while making paranthas and Daal ka chaukhas.
- Next, if they like different styles of bread in the breakfast and supper time, OTG and microwaves come as a saviour.
- Many households prefer dishwasher according to eating habits and cooking.
- Barbecues are fast making a special place in the list as Indians like to experiment with food routines.
Every kitchen is designed with love. Each person takes the pain to design it their own way. And they love to experiment with colours and colours. Because the kitchen is where the heart lies.

Did you cook all of that? Looks super yummy. I like your systematic design. Even I like to discard old stuff and have more work space at the kitchen counter. Kitchens should definitely look attractive and spacious.
Hey,Leha. The pasta in the feature photo is cooked by me and the dokhla by my sis in law. The rest are restaurant food photos. Thanks
Nice post! The eating at home needs to be rethought. With the busiest lives that all of us live, it gets tough to eat at home. Loved all the points that you have mentioned. Having pasta pizza at home without the perils of preservatives is always welcome.
I totally agree, Sneha. Many times I also get bored by cooking and want to pamper myself and eat out. But at last, home is the sweetest where I can eat in my pyjamas and the favourite movie! Thanks

We prefer eating at home over eating out. We cook every type of cuisine at home and it is ALWAYS better than the restaurant version.

Wow Shilpa, when husbands are around while cooking, the taste enhances itself. Thank you.
I like the concept of having barbeques at home. It is something that isn’t common and yet can be a fun family activity that everyone can participate in together.
That’s true. I have seen many Indian families having barbecue parties at home. Thank you Roshan.
