Motherhood makes every woman special. With every pregnancy, there is a new sea of emotions, and I am no different. I felt myself growing as my son grew. I discovered many new qualities within me, and the greatest of them all is gratitude. I wonder how a 5 years old child has so much gratitude engraved within. Maybe that is the way God wants me to be more patient and learn a new quality every day. His gratitude makes our bond stronger.

This Mother’s Day I want to thank my small boy for being so supportive and loving all the time. Looking at him, I thank my God endlessly with every breath I take.

The qualities I admire in him

Every mother wants her baby to sleep on time and not have sleepless nights. He is such a charming baby that he actually adheres to the timings and does not irritate during our sleep time. This quality of his makes me so happy.

He obeys what I say and very cutely says ‘ok Ma’. You simply want to hug him for such noble nature. He does not do this in front of everyone but every time. When I listen to him first and then tell him my side of the story, he simply hugs me and agrees.

It is not that he does not shout or throw tantrums; that is natural but many times, it is due to some other reason that is in the back of his mind. If someone troubles him for no reason, then he loses his patience, but a little later, he calms down.

When his gesture made a special place in my heart and that how his gratitude makes our bond stronger

Once, we waited for lunch in a temple. Everybody was feeling hungry and desperate to have food on their plate. He was sitting next to me. We had only water at that time. He drank and was still thirsty. He asked me, and I offered my glass of water to him. He drank but was concerned about what will I drink if I feel thirsty. I assured him that I was not thirsty. Somehow, not convinced, he kept looking for the man to serve water to me. He felt sorry that he drank my glass of water and I was without water in that scorching summer.

I was astonished to see him so caring being so young. We as adults become selfish many times.

His generous nature made me think twice

I have always taught him to discard his old clothes, books, toys etc. and help those people who are fortunate enough to get the necessities of life. I am happy to watch him donate his favourite toys to many needy children.

I admire him for his generous nature that makes me think am I following the same.

He is content with himself

He is happy with what all he has. He never asks for more. Being a small child, he is not greedy for toys or new things. He has only a few favourites, and if I get him those, then he is the happiest in the world. However, I always try to gift him for his small gestures. Little gifts that make him smile. I always let him know the reason for the gift so that he remembers and is always motivated.
