# The salary of motherhood

**Motherhood is not a job or a profession but selfless love**. I thought much about it and came to the conclusion that it doesn't fit into any category; there's no salary of motherhood. Motherhood is incomparable. Even a lady doesn't know how much she changes after becoming a mother. The feeling cannot be expressed in words. However, I have tried to express my feelings to some extent.

## Motherhood is not duty but habit

Often people ask me how come you are able to manage family, kids and now writing? And I just answer them one thing: **motherhood has its own strength.** When you know you have to look after your kids first then you get up for your kids even if you are down with the fever. I look up to those women who are professionally working and still look after their kids and family in a great way.

## You want to detach yourself instead you attach more deeply

So many times, I feel so irritated with my daily schedule and revolve around kids only. Many days I don't even get time to write that simply rejuvenates me. I just want to leave all and go to a place where nobody recognises me. But for how long? **Until my children call me out and show me their creative painting or clay modelling. The bonding is not at all detachable. **I smile and enjoy the moment with them.

## Because the umbilical cord still exists

My daughter is about to be 10 years old. She is quite independent now. And more confident than I used to be at her age. But the moment I feel I can relax a little, she is already standing behind me narrating her stories. When a big one is like this then you can imagine how the 5-year-old would be. **This is because the umbilical cord has not been cut but has become invisible to the world. **And children will always be tied to their moms.

## You want to be selfish but end up being selfless

Many times, I am totally tired of their daily chores and want to sit for a minute and have a glass of water. But the next moment another task comes up. I may be hungry like I have not had food in ages. I feel angry because of their mischief and don't want to give them food. **But still, I prepare their plate first and then have my food. No father does this!**

I often ask God why we mothers are like this. Why can't we just leave them on their own and live carelessly? **A bird also feeds her child until they learn to fly. After that, they live a life of their own. **

To which a voice from inside answered me that **a mother is selfless that is why she is always compared to God. When you want to see God and touch him, feel him; you see your [mother.](http://www.thoughtsbygeethica.com/04/2017/m-mother/)**

Motherhood can't be measured in terms of money because the respect a mother gets is indifferent to materialistic things in the world. **You can buy luxury with money but the peace is available only on a mother's lap.**
