Old Memories – Fresh Pen | Series 3
Every person has his own aura to spread. Today, in my memories I remember an old uncle who loved me like an angel. My Fresh Pen acknowledges him as “Pinky Mama”.
He lived in our neighbourhood and used to visit us every other day. He was only some years younger than my grandmother. But his enthusiasm towards me made him my buddy. Everytime he visited, he used to get some toffees to shower his love on me. Or sometimes a doll was brought to accompany me. Theirs was a close-knit family with 2 boys who were quite big in age as compared to me. But the love among all of them was the same for me.
From the core
I was the only child at that time and Pinky Mama used to take me along to his house. They had a big veranda and I enjoyed running there for hours. I wonder who used to run with me? The boys or Pinky Mama? This part of the memory has totally fused.
The only running episode I remember is when I was playing one day until dark and fell down. My forehead had swollen from one side. All of them were around me pressing my head with warm water. And Pinky Mama caressed my forehead with soothing words while wiping my tears. His nasal tone is still echoing in my ears.
Lessons learned later in life
Later in age, I realised that Pinky Mama was not our relative. But a friend of our distant relative and lived nearby.
