A date with books on Christmas
Usually, Christmas has been a usual holiday for me. Lazy brunch and then settling for some DVDs or a book in the sun. My kids now buy a small tree and decorate with cute items. They make me feel that yes it is festival time.
But this year, it is different. I got a mail early in the morning, some days ago, that brought a smile on my face. It was an invitation from OXFORD BOOKSTORE, NewDelhi for a book launch by Sudha Murty.
It was a lovely surprise for me. This is something that I can be ready for in the middle of a night also. Bookstores have got a magnetic effect towards me since my childhood. And the legacy has been taken forward through my daughter. I feel proud to see her craving for books. I was astonished to see once when she said that the smell of a new book is totally mesmerising. And that gives me a lot of gifting options for her.
And when I checked the date, it was on 25th dec and that was a real treat. What a splendid way to spend the day on a warm winter. Going to malls and shopping areas on Christmas had been boring now. And the rush has always been swarming. Just to spend the holiday, I used to take the kids out. To show them the celebrations and the decorations in the city. On some random year, my family didn’t even have to walk through the crowd, we were being carried away to the exit. If we wanted to stop also we could not.
But today it was different. And I was excited not for the outing but for the reason that I have an appointment to the place I love.
We are preparing for the book launch.
What are you planning today? Share them in the comments below and let the world know about it.

I can so relate to it. We all love books in our family and a visit to a bookstore is in itself a big thing. My elder one is an avid reader and every time anyone asks her about her choice of gifts..she only asks for books. Merry Christmas and thanks for writing for #MondayMommyMoments. 🙂
Yes Deepa, when your kids take forward your legacy it feels great. Glad you felt connected while reading my blog.
